Shelby Barbier serves as Chief Executive Officer of Cinterra, where he brings over three decades of experience in leading complex energy and infrastructure projects across the U.S. and globally. As CEO, Shelby sets the strategic direction of the company and ensures operational excellence across all divisions. He reports directly to Cinterra’s Board of Directors and plays a critical role in aligning executive leadership, field operations, and long-term business growth. Under his leadership, Cinterra continues to expand its national footprint while delivering safe, high-quality electrical infrastructure and renewable energy services.
Prior to joining Cinterra, Shelby held senior executive roles at Black & Veatch,, The Shaw Group, and Williams Industrial Services Group. At Black & Veatch, he led more than 1,300 staff and 4,000 craft laborers on billion-dollar EPC projects across solar, conventional gas generation, wind, nuclear, telecom, water and petrochemical sectors. Shelby’s career is rooted in construction, giving him a hands-on perspective and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and safety. His ability to scale teams, implement systems, and navigate complex project lifecycles makes him a transformational leader in the energy space.
Shelby lives in Overland Park, Kansas with his spouse and enjoys boating, fishing, and playing golf in his free time. With a passion for building strong teams and leading with integrity, he brings the same energy to his personal life that he does to his work.
